Failed comedian Arthur Fleck struggles with his dual identity and meets the love of his life, Harley Quinn, while incarcerated at Arkham State Hospital. Lady Gaga, Brendan Gleeson, and writer-director Todd Phillips talk about what scared them most about the musical sequel. Gaga also shares how she got her dark role and stayed in it. This initially led to speculation that Harley Quinn would appear in the film, which was confirmed shortly after.

The name “Folie à Deux” dates back to 19th-century French psychiatrists Charles Lasègue and Jules Falret. The term was coined to describe two or more people suffering from the same madness or delusion. The jury foreman refers to “the people of New York” rather than Gotham City. This is because New York State is the plaintiff in a criminal case and this version of Gotham City is obviously in New York State (most versions place Gotham in New Jersey).

Joaquin Phoenix gives a decent performance, but it’s nowhere near as good as the first film

I absolutely loved Todd Phillips’ first Joker movie, but I have to say, what were they thinking when they decided to make a sequel? Unlike the first film, this movie has almost no plot, just a series of weird and wacky vignettes mixed with musical numbers that got boring very quickly and made the runtime much longer than it needed to be given how unentertaining the movie was. I waited in anticipation, thinking it was going to lead to a big moment, which unfortunately never happens, and instead was left with nothing but disappointment as the movie ends worse than it started. I was on the fence when I saw the trailer, but now that I’ve seen it, I wish I hadn’t.

If you’re a fan of the first film, it’s not clear whether you’ll like this one or not, but I wouldn’t recommend it
